Montgomery County Movers

Packing Services

JENSEN MOVERS provides complete packing services. We will come to your home and pack everything from your chandeliers to your toothbrush. The charges for packing are determined by the cartons packed. Our professional packers can complete your packing quickly and efficiently, usually in a day or less due to their training and experience. In addition, your home stays attractive and useful up to the day you move.

Please keep in mind when you are making the decision to do your own packing, anything the customer packs is not covered by insurance. Whereas, when the professional packs for you, the chances for damage to your precious possessions are dramatically reduced and those items are insured.

Please keep in mind that all fragile, small and loose articles must be packed for moving. Mirrors, pictures, paintings along with all marble, glass, and slate should also be properly prepared and packed for moving.

When the mover completes your packing, put aside cooking utensils, food, toiletries, or anything else you will need up to the last minute. We will leave a carton to pack these items.

Packing Materials

In the event you choose to do your own packing, we have a complete inventory of cartons and packing materials to suit your needs. Arrangements to purchase your supplies can be made by stopping by our office or by calling to place an order. We will be glad to schedule delivery to your home. You can also look through a detailed list, and pre-pick the supplies you need by using our online order form.

A Few Things To Keep In Mind

1.) Clean out your closets, cupboards, storage areas, etc. a few weeks before your move. Throw away anything that is no longer of value or of any use to you. Why pay to pack and move something you do not need?

2.) If you are doing your own packing, please remember that EVERYTHING needs to be packed. Also, do not wait until the day before your move to begin packing. Be ready to move when the van arrives. On local moving you will save time, which will save you money.

Top 20 Packing Tips

1.) China, crystal and all fragile objects must be wrapped in paper and packed in strong containers, preferably dish packs.

2.) Pictures, mirrors, glass and marble tops should be padded and packed or crated.

3.) Brooms, mops, curtain rods, etc. should be tied together.

4.) Small appliances, including VCR's, stereo equipment, etc. must be wrapped and packed.

5.) Large appliances - some large appliances need to be serviced. Check with the appliance dealer.

6.) Books should be packed in small, strong cartons. Books are extremely heavy, so please do not use a large carton.

7.) Lampshades should be wrapped in white paper and placed alone in a carton. They should be cushioned to prevent shifting.

8.) Do not use newspaper to wrap lampshades. The ink will rub off and damage the shade.

9.) You should move jewelry and valuable legal documents. Your mover can not be responsible for such items.

10.) Keep your handbag, checkbook and any other personal valuables with you at all times during moving day. Otherwise, you may find that they have been packed and loaded on the truck.

11.) Flammable materials such as turpentine, cleaning fluids, paints, spray cans, ammunition, etc. can not be moved.

12.) Lawn mowers should be drained several days in advance.

13.) Dried and canned foodstuff can be packed in advance, but refrigerated items should be packed last minute before you leave to go to the new home.

14.) Plants can be transferred on the truck, but the truck is not climate controlled and the condition of the plants is not guaranteed.

15.) You are responsible for removal of attached fixtures, such as towel racks, electrical, curtains/rods, built-in items, etc. It is sometimes unlawful to remove such items since they can be considered part of the sale.

16.) Pets can not be carried on the truck. Make arrangements for their transfer.

17.) Remember to order wardrobe cartons. Wardrobes enable clothing to be moved easily and protect your clothing.

18.) Do not roll mattresses as we will take your bed apart and set it up for you.

19.) Linens should be packed, but also can be used as cushion for your fragile items.

20.) Loose carpeting can be rolled and moved for you. You must arrange for the removal of wall to wall carpeting.
